.: The Film’s Theme

Riversurfing has developed into a new breed of sport. Surfing on the sea, which has inspired new sports such as windsurfing, skateboarding and snowboarding, has been around for roughly one hundred years, since it’s invention in Hawaii. Riversurfing, which probably is the closest relative to surfing on the sea, has its origin right in the heart of Munich, on the Eisbach by the Haus der Kunst (one of Munich’s renown museum for the arts).

It has been 30 years since the first surfer living in Munich had the idea of using his board which was built to surf the ocean waves, to surf the standing wave. This trial was far more fun than had been assumed and a new sport was born.

The film is built around the motto “people are far more interested in people than anything else”, therefore the film focuses on its protagonists which are all are exceptional personalities, with divergent characters, who are brought together by their common passion for surfing this particular wave in the center of Munich.
